Video: Creepy Crawly Visitors on State of Affairs!

This past Wednesday we did a show about John James Audubon and the anniversary of his time in Louisville. Our guests included two re-enactors, who came in costume and brought all sorts of goodies, including native plants and critters. Mike Strohm (left on the photo) portrays Audubon himself, and Howard McDaniel plays his assistant, a landscape painter named George Lehman.

It's the first time since I've been with the show that I can remember having reptiles, amphibians, fish, or crustaceans as guests. They didn't say much, but they did entertain us once we were off the air - our fearless host Julie Kredens held the snake and the crawfish! We hope they entertain you, too.

A fish called a Rosefin Shiner

How to hold a crawfish, without getting pinched.

A strangely cute Northern Water Snake

A very calm Leopard Frog. According to Wikiepdia, they're commonly used as dissection specimens in biology classrooms. I guess this one hit the jackpot - it's going to be a temporary guest in the interpretive center at Bernheim Forest (where all these animals are from), then it'll be released back into the wild.
