New Ali Center President To Begin Work Next Month

The newly-appointed president of the Muhammad Ali Center says he's eager to begin work in Louisville.The center's board hired Greg Roberts for the post this week after a national search.Roberts currently heads the D.C. Children and Youth Investment Trust Corporation and is involved with the Magic Johnson Foundation in Los Angeles.He'll begin his new job next month."My plan is to really make the Ali Center a must-go place, obviously for the community of  Louisville and surrounding areas, but also on the national and international level," Roberts said.Roberts, who holds bachelor and master's degrees from Central Connecticut State University, is the center's second permanent president, succeeding Mike Fox, who resigned last year. Barry Alberts of the Downtown Development Corporation has been serving as interim president during the search.

Rick Howlett was midday host and the host of LPM's weekly talk show, "In Conversation." He was with LPM from 2001-2023 and held many different titles, including Morning Edition host, Assignment Editor and Interim News Director. He died in August 2023. Read a remembrance of Rick here.
