Just over a year from now, the Waterfront Park memorial honoring Abraham Lincoln is set to be dedicated. Sculptor Ed Hamilton says the memorial is on track to be completed by then. The central figure of the memorial is a 12-foot statue of Lincoln around 40-years-old, with an open book. Hamilton first created a 15-inch plaster model of his design and sent it to a computer-design company in California to be enlarged to its actual size. Hamilton says the 12-foot foam version arrived last week in his studio."And I’ve got him up on a potion of the rock, in foam. I had him digitally enlarged from my plaster model and so now he’s sitting here in the studio now all big and… powerful," he said. The memorial will also include an amphitheatre and four bas reliefs depicting different areas of Lincoln’s life. It’s set to be dedicated June 4th, 2009, as part of the Lincoln Bicentennial celebration.
