City To Offer Pool Shuttle

Louisville Metro Government has announced the creation of a swimming pool shuttle service.Earlier this year Louisville Mayor Jerry Abramson said the city would close half of its pools due to budget constraints. That drew complaints from residents who used the pools. In response, the city will run a shuttle service from the closed pools to either the Norton or Algonquin pool, depending on the day.Mayor’s spokesperson Kerri Richardson says the city will be watching for overcrowding at the open pools.“If that happens then we’ll be able to move them to perhaps other pools that are also open," says Richardson. "We’ve got a couple of other options that are also open. We’ve still got five pools that will be open this summer.”Unless demand increases the shuttle will run once every day from all five closed pools and give swimmers about three hours at an open pool. Pool admission will be $1.50 for children, $2.00 for adults.
