Michelle Obama and Caroline Kennedy Campaign in Jeffersonville

The wife of Senator Barack Obama spent part of the morning talking to working mothers in southern Indiana. Michelle Obama met with 26 women at a Jeffersonville day care.Mrs. Obama was joined by Caroline Kennedy as they talked with the group of women about the economic, emotional and physical challenges that come with motherhood. She thinks the expectations of motherhood are continually growing – and some mothers no longer have the option of staying home to raise their children."You don’t get home until 7, 8 o’clock at night, your kids have been at daycare all day, if someone is having any level of academic trouble, how do you fit that problem into your life? So we’ve got a culture of women who are feeling like failures," said Obama. One partial solution – says Obama – is to bring equity to the country’s tax system, allowing families hold into more of their income. Indiana’s primary is Tuesday.
