Louisville To Be In "Roadshow" Spotlight

It's Louisville's turn in the national spotlight starting Monday night as the city will be featured in the next three episodes of the popular PBS program "Antiques Roadshow."The show's cameras and appraisers came to Louisville last summer, when more than six thousand people brought treasures, heirlooms and oddities to the Kentucky International Convention Center to be examined.Executive Producer Marsha Bemko says those items included a set of boxing gloves signed twice by Louisville native Muhammad Ali;  the first time in 1963, when he was known as Cassius Clay, and again some 40 years later."That was appraised at auction for two to three thousand dollars," Bemko said. The program also includes feature stories on the Muhammad Ali Center and the Civil War battlefield at Perryville. The three Louisville "Antiques Roadshow" episodes will air on consecutive Mondays starting April 21 on KET2.

Rick Howlett was midday host and the host of LPM's weekly talk show, "In Conversation." He was with LPM from 2001-2023 and held many different titles, including Morning Edition host, Assignment Editor and Interim News Director. He died in August 2023. Read a remembrance of Rick here.
