Healthy Hometown Pedestrian Summit

April 15, 2008
Healthy Hometown Pedestrian Summit

A 2004 study revealed that Louisville pedestrians were killed at twice the national average rate, bringing the issue of pedestrian safety to the forefront. This month, Metro Government is sponsoring the Healthy Hometown Pedestrian Summit. It’s a series of workshops where citizens are invited to help create a community walkability plan. The plan will address problems for pedestrians in Louisville and suggest ways to promote walking. Studies show that more walking means better health, cleaner air and a strengthened sense of community, and across the US pedestrian activist groups are campaigning for improvements like new bike lanes, speed bumps and sidewalks. Join us Tuesday when we talk the talk about walking.
