As usual, two Louisville post offices will stay open late Tuesday night to accommodate last minute income tax filers, but officials say the crush to get paper returns postmarked before midnight is not what it used to be.Postal Service Customer Relations Manager Don Beierle says that’s because morepeople are filing electronically.“I would say that it’s dropped considerably over the last five years, let’s put it that way. I couldn’t give you any numbers," he says.Beierle says this could the last year that workers are stationed outside the Crittenden Drive and Gardiner Lane post offices to collect returns. He says both of those facilities will continue to stay open until midnight on tax day.
