About 650 Louisvillians to Attend Papal Mass

On the last day of his first official visit to the United States, Pope Benedict XVI will celebrate a Sunday Mass at Yankee Stadium in New York City, and about 650 Louisvillians will be in attendance. The mass will commemorate the bicentennials of the Archdioceses of New York, Boston, Philadelphia and Louisville. Louisville Archdiocese spokesperson Cecelia Price says the tickets were allocated several weeks ago."We were informed by New York that since we are a bicentennial Archdiocese, we would be given a special number of seats and special seating in the stadium. So in January we let the parishes know about that and invited each of our 122 parishes to send four representatives," said Price.Louisville Archbishop Joseph Kurtz will be among the church leaders participating in the Mass. The pope arrives in the U.S. tomorrow.
