Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear says he's not giving up on his push for expanded gaming in the Commonwealth.Legislation that would allow citizens to vote by constitutional amendment on whether to legalize casino gambling never got much traction in this year's General Assembly.It died after clearing a House committee. But Governor Beshear told the Louisville Rotary Club Thursday that he still believes most Kentuckians want to decide the matter for themselves."I'm going to keep talking about this issue, I'm going to keep talking with legislators and the general public about this issue, and see if there might be an opportunity over the next two years to bring that issue up again to see if we can have some success on it," Beshear said.Beshear has promoted casino gambling as a way to raise hundreds of millions of dollars in new revenue.On another topic, the governor said he's hopeful lawmakers will eventually come to consensus on a long-term financing plan to build two new Ohio River bridges in Louisville and reconfigure Spaghetti Junction.Legislators return to Frankfort Monday for the final two days of the General Assembly.Lawmakers return to Frankfort Monday for the final two days of the General Assembly.
