The winter storm that struck the Louisville area earlier this month caused a drop in blood supplies.Officials with the local American Red Cross chapter say weather-related blood drive cancellations have the agency scrambling to make up for a loss of more than 12-hundred units.Spokesperson Loni White says a St. Patrick Day themed blood drive will be held Wednesday at the Executive West Hotel."We're asking for at least 300 people to come in. Without that, we will continue to be dependent on another region to help our area hospital patients, and Louisville really has always been a community that's taken care of itself in terms of blood needs."White says all blood types are needed, but there is a critical shortage of negative types.
