Demonstrators held a rally outside of U.S Senator Mitch McConnell’s Louisville office Wednesday. They gathered to urge the Republican senator to use his position on the Agricultural Committee to restructure parts of the farm bill, including provisions the protestors say are favorable to corporate farms.“The factory farms are a disgrace," says demonstrator Stephen Bartlett. "And this current farm bill just supports the ongoing expansion of confinement agriculture which is cruel to animals and creates unhealthy food.”Senator McConnell met with leaders of the Kentucky Farm Bureau Wednesday morning in Washington. He said in a statement that he and his colleagues will try to draft a bill that meets every farmers’ needs.
