Louisville Metro Government officials say a judge's ruling regarding the city's animal control ordinance will not have an effect on enforcement of the law.Jefferson Circuit Judge Martin McDonald ruled that the public was not given sufficient notice of a December, 2006 Metro Council caucus meeting on the ordinance. His ruling also struck down an amended ordinance passed in April of 2007.But spokesperson Kerri Richardson with the mayor's office says its the city's interpretation that the ruling does not apply to yet another, comprehensive ordinance approved eight months later."That's good news for our community because that means we can keep dangerous dogs off the street, we can keep doing our normal animal services enforcement. So this will literally mean zero impact for the community," Richardson said.The judge's ruling came in a suit filed by the Louisville Kennel Club and the League of Kentucky Sportsmen.The Metro Council began debating tougher animal control legislation after two people were killed in dog attacks.
