More than seven hundred elementary students in Oldham County will transfer to new schools next fall. The school board has approved a redistricting plan to reduce overcrowding; it also includes the opening of a new school in the eastern part of the county.Parents of some of the redistricted pupils have raised objections to the plan.Pupil Personnel Director Michael Williams says the board has tried to address parental concerns, but school crowding has become too severe to avoid moving a large number of students.“We’re a high growth district," says Williams. "We grow on average of about 500 students a year.”To further accommodate that growth, another school is being replaced. It will open in December.
