Our star for the Paws Report today at 3:30pm is a sweet girl with quite a story: My name is Angel, and it's a miracle I survived. In March my mom died in a tornado in Laurel County, KY, when her home was destroyed. I survived the storm because I was tied to a tree with my brother - otherwise I probably would have been blown away. He was adopted by a family member, but I was not. Since March I have been in and out of area shelters and foster homes - first in a temporary shelter created by the Humane Society of the United States to house tornado victims, then by Forever Friends, a wonderful volunteer rescue group in Corbin, KY, where I was in two foster homes. In August I came to the Kentucky Humane Society. It's been so long since I have had a family to love, and I am very tired of not having a home of my own. The day the tornado hit, I went through a lot of emotional trauma. I lost not only my mom and her daughter, but also my brother and everyone I knew. I am a bit fearful of new situations, but I am appeasing and nonconfrontational. I am quiet and curious, and I do warm up to new people and situations if given time and patience. I need a home where I experience consistency and love so I can gain confidence. I like other dogs - as long as they aren't too rough. Please come visit me and get to know me. I promise to be a loyal, loving friend.
Angel is available for adoption at The Ky. Humane Society. Visit www.kyhumane.org for more information or to view other pets.
